||Life from the Good Side...
are probably sick of hearing me rant and would like to read
something pleasant for a change. Problems are often so
aggravating that it is hard to get past them. But, rather than
tell you about everything that has gone wrong lately, I am going
to talk about the things that have gone right.
the Good Side
I flew back home from St. Louis and the plane was not delayed
but actually arrived a little early. I am not going to tell you
about not being able to find my luggage. The good news is I
finally figured out those people with the yellow vests and a
suitcase that looked just like mine were airport personnel
wondering where in the heck I was.
Honey cleaned the house and it was not in the condition that
I was afraid it might be after a week of him being a bachelor. I
am not going to tell you that I had left strict orders and a
list on the refrigerator. I prefer to think that he really
missed me and cleaned the house to show me how much he cares.
Wasn't that sweet of him?
All of my favorite TV programs recorded while I was gone and
I was able to catch up on both "Survivor" and
"Amazing Race." I am not going to tell you about
checking to make sure the recorder was set before I left, so I
would not have to worry while I was busy doing other fun things.
You are probably wondering why I am watching reality shows
anyhow. I sometimes wonder myself, but I am hooked.
I went to my dental appointment and everything went okay. The
dentist was much better than the one I had before. I am not
going to mention how much I was dreading having a root canal.
It seems a little silly that I was so afraid now that it
is over. After I was done, they gave me a tee shirt that says,
“I survived my root canal.” How did they know?
My new rose bushes arrived in the mail the same day I came
home -- perfect timing. My son also purchased some azaleas on
sale at Home Depot. I will not mention that he planted the
azaleas in the exact spot where I had intended to plant my
expensive mail order tea roses. I found another spot in front of
a window where I can watch the roses bloom. He planted them for
me and I didn't mention where they were originally intended them
I have been seeing a counselor since my daughter passed away. I
will not mention being sad and depressed. This time I had a lot
of happy things to talk about, like the 45 trees I donated to an
organization that reforests areas where trees are needed. It was
a cool way to honor my daughter's memory, planting one tree for
each year that she lived.
It appears that a new kitchen range is in my near future. When I
started to cook dinner after coming home, I found that that my
range was not working. I reset the circuit breaker and
everything came back except one burner. The appliance repairman
tells me the cost of parts and labor will be almost as much as a
new stove. As I said, I will be appliance shopping soon.
I also visited the local walk-in medical clinic this week and
received shots and pills. I picked up a lousy cold somewhere,
probably on the plane. I do not want to talk about how crummy I
feel today, since I should be feeling better soon.
So, that's my week that was. Isn't it nice to read about
pleasant things for a change? Just ignore all that other stuff.
